The Largest Temple at Chacchoben

In February of 2018, we will be leaving for an unforgettable journey.  One of our amazing stops will be at Chacchoben.  The Cohuo Family established a farm near here in 1942.  At the time, these ruins were totally lost and forgotten.

An archaeologist named Peter Harrison discovered the site while flying a helicopter over Mexico.  It seemed strange to him that there would be so many hills in a land that was so very flat.  Those hills turned out to be the structures you will be able to visit here.  Harrison helped to make the first maps of Chacchoben as well as reporting the site to the Mexican Government in June of 1972.

The settlement by the Maya at this site is estimated to be around 200 BC.  According to Book of Mormon scholars, 200 BC is well within the history of the Book of Mormon.  Come prepared to take a look and learn as much as you can about the remarkable people who once lived here.
